Since being here we have witnessed the aftermath of five road accidents, most recently, a pick up truck collided with a coach and caused the most damage to a vehicle I have ever seen. Drivers in Thailand can be erratic and speed obsessed and we decided that travelling long distance is safest by train. We took the train from Bangkok to Cha Am for 188thb for the two of us, we had previously paid an agency to take us by bus for 500 each but decided that not only were they ripping us off, but it wasn’t worth the risk, so we demanded a refund. The train journey took around five hours but there was plenty to look at and it also gave me time to start my new book - May We Be Forgiven by A. M. Homes (so far, really good!) We also got into conversation with a monk, who gave us orange bracelets and said he liked our bicycles.
