Day two of our cycling adventure: we cycled 30km to our next guest house to find that the building was occupied by a lot of howling dogs, and not much else. The phone number on the booking email wouldn’t connect and the high concrete and barbed wire fence meant we couldn’t knock on the door. Using the last bit of battery on my phone, (we’ve paid for a tourist 3G package so that we won’t get lost cycling!) I booked the next nearest place - another 5km away!! After what felt like forever, we trundled up to Waterside Resort, a plush set of bungalows with a pool. Our original place cost us half as much and we wouldn’t usually spend as much on a night. Unfortunately, the place was again, deserted. Except for a man sharpening a stick next door.
Long story short, he had a key to our room and managed to let us in. The place was really lovely and we were the only guests, meaning we had the pool to ourselves - which was cold because it was now dark, but a pool nonetheless. Shortly after we settled in, we did some MORE cycling to a place we had passed that sold a steak dinner for £1.60, we both opted for chicken and rice but concluded that it was actually mystery meat.
