It's that time of year again when social media is flooded with photographs of beaches, cocktails, sun sets and general holidaying cliches. All of this gets me dreaming about packing a bag and going away - note: I'm not, moving to London has drained my bank account, which made writing this post a little torturous. So I hope it helps if you're packing for a trip!
Being in a hot, humid country means you'll want to have a few top options on rotation as wearing the same thing every day isn't really an option. A long sleeved top is a good choice too for when it gets cooler.
Denim shorts are a fail safe; I've gone for a classic denim and a black pair. I wish I'd become accustomed with looser fit jeans whilst in Asia, the days in which I needed a little more warmth, skinny jeans wouldn't have been my first choice for sitting on a cramped bus. A pair like these Mango ones would have been a much better alternative. I've also included this black pair from Topshop as they are comfortable, stylish and backpack/suitcase friendly thanks to the pleats!
Although tan lines are my arch nemesis, I've included these one-pieces as they are skimpy enough to be beach appropriate but would also double up as a daytime look with a pair of shorts. In terms of bikinis, I love a bit of ruching (very flattering if you have a little chest like me) and always favour bandeau styles to combat said tan lines.
These outfits are great for throwing on and require little thought. I had a striped dress very similar to the pink one here (from ASOS) when I was travelling and it was my go-to.
I took Nike's Roshes away with me which did me well... until my big toe broke through the fabric. A reliable pair of trainers is so important, as is a cooler pair to slip on. If you're limited for space, skimp on the footwear.
... and don't forget to pack underwear!
